Shaw's Quick Tip: When bass are shallow and on or around the beds in spring, I have a couple of baits that I rely on more than any others. The first is a Strike King Zero with no weight on a 4/0 Eagle Claw High Performance hook rigged on 20-pound test Stren DuraTuf line with a 7'2 Quantum Shaw Grigsby PT Signature Series rod and Quantum Tour Edition 1160PT baitcast reel. If I see a bass that's actually on a bed, I'll often switch over to a Strike King Flip-n-Tube, Texas-rigged with a 1/4 ounce Penetrater sinker and fished on the same tackle. It looks like a crawfish on the bed, and bass can't stand that.
