PT Technology

There has been lots of buzz about the use of micro guides in recent years. They certainly make rods feel lighter but also can create issues with leader knots, can become damaged more easily, and freeze up easier in cold weather. Our PT guide system uses a smaller low profile guide that is a “tweener” between a micro and full size guide that we believe provides the best combination for guide performance. The guide spacing is optimized on every model to provide the best line clearance and not interfere with the rod’s action.

PT rods feature the very best components available at every price point.  Reel seats and guide systems are provided by Fuji®, Kigan®, and other premium component suppliers. Our exclusive low profile hook-keeper design eliminates snagged line and we use super dense EVA or high grade cork to maximize comfort and sensitivity. Each rod is hand assembled and finished with a slow cure epoxy coating on thread wraps.

Each rod is painstakingly designed in Tulsa, Oklahoma with extensive input and field testing by our pros and field test staff. You will find that every PT rod provides the right combination of backbone for hook sets with the tip sensitivity for incredible feel. Blank powers are customized for the intended design from finesse style rods to the heaviest of flipping applications.

Our patented multi drag disk design combines carbon and ceramic washers to perfectly balance smoothness with power.  The carbon washers have the job of providing stopping power and good drag lockdown while the ceramic washers provide drag consistency and smoothness.

A precision stainless steel clutch bearing is designed to withstand bone jarring hooksets without any backward handle movement.

Every PT reel comes from the factory with our proprietary PT Hot Sauce lubricants. Its formulated specifically for fishing reel applications to lower friction and increase the longevity of each reel.

PT Bearings are built to our exact design standards of performance specifications. We’ve tested hundreds of bearings in our Q Lab  to determine the exact bearing specifications that can stand up to the abuse and stress from the most demanding anglers.

PT Gears are designed by our proprietary CAD program and manufactured to precise tolerances to yield world class smoothness. Durable high strength materials are used so your reel will handle heavy use for years to come without compromise.

Multiple anodize, primer, and finish coatings create a sealed barrier of saltwater protection to ward off the effects of Mother Ocean.

The pinion gear is held exactly in place by two ball bearings so there is no contact with the spool shaft during casting, thus eliminating any friction.  With a properly adjusted ACS system, casts are freakishly long.

A rigid, lightweight one-piece aluminum frame resists any torque from big fish.  CNC machining of critical mounting locations for gears and bearings keep the gear train in perfect alignment throughout the life of the reel.

A convenient button located under the reel allows you to rotate and remove the side cover for spool access and maintenance.

Quantum’s patented Adjustable Centrifugal System allows you to dial in the exact amount of braking force without removing the side cover that’s required on other reels.  This allows you to make fine adjustments quickly as conditions change.

When selected, the Flippin’ Switch allows the angler the ability to depress the thumbar, make a short cast, and re-engage the reel without ever turning the handle to cover more water faster.  Walleye fishermen will benefit from the feature for back-trolling, allowing the angler to release line and re-engage the reel with one hand while the other hand operates the motor.
